- Duties:
Summary of this position is to perform administrative secretarial duties in support of the Chair and faculty/staff to insure orderly business activities and efficient operation of the Exercise Science and Sports Medicine Department.

Produce correspondence, examinations, reports, course outlines for entire faculty (Chair, full-time & part-time) in the department.

Record, type and distribute minutes for departmental meetings.

Compile cost figures to support reports or maintain expenses.

Generate and maintain electronic records and files for all ESSM, PHED and UCFH courses in the Banner system each semester.

Collect and deposit fees for various department programs and workshops.

Prepare and submit all departmental forms and purchase requisitions of the department.

Maintain adequate office and instructional supply inventory for the department; distribute items for teaching to students (goggles, heart rate monitor straps, etc.).

Provide assistance to students with any registration concerns.

Create and update electronic group address lists of students for each major.

Monitor ESSM's library budget and order special reading or video materials for faculty.

Update all faculty/staff contact information.

Answer, route or process all phone calls for department in a professional business like method (6 lines).

Retain petty cash (collect money for long distance phone charges, copier use, etc.).

Purchase and ensure availability of miscellaneous items (computer software, door signage for faculty/staff, gifts for speakers, cards & flowers of special occasions, promotional items for special events, etc.).

Schedule appointments.

Create and maintain all hard copies and records.

Make routine decisions in accordance with established policies.

Supervise student workers.

Process monthly attendance reports.

- Required Qualifications:
- A high school diploma.
- A minimum of one year's secretarial/administrative experience.
- Possess strong managerial and supervisory skills as well as ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Competent in making independent decisions on routine matters with the ability to refer major decisions to the department chair.
- Must be able to pass test showing basic competency skills in basic arithmetic, computer knowledge, English language, English spelling and vocabulary and all Microsoft software products (Windows, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Access).
- Must have excellent interpersonal abilities to interact effectively with students and all levels of employees.
- Experienced with mainframe and various office equipment.
- Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree.

Knowledgeable of the Banner product.
