Better World Theatre: Nursing

Students from the Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing performed three short plays on issues in nursing ethics on Monday, November 19th, as part of the Mann Center's Better World Theatre initiative. Following each play, student facilitators led the audience, comprised primarily of student peers from the nursing school, in a discussion of the ethical issues identified in each act.

Stigma

Starring Rachel Brown and Cari Gelderman, Stigma looked at potential conflicts between a nurse's self-interest and the interests of the patient. Facilitators included Lauren Churey, Ashley Staarman, Maria-Paula Munoz, Janet Washington, Chinonso Osuagwu, and Ify Osisioma.

The Anti-Social Network

Starring Lindsay Plan, Anna Davis, Martha Kate Goforth, Mary Kathryn Price, and Stedman Poe, The Anti-Social Network examined the risks of online behavior in a field such as nursing, as well as the appropriateness of interpersonal relationships with patients. Facilitators were Wesley Nails and Zach Thomas.

Just a Problem of Time

Just a Problem of Time, starring Sonya Ponder, Alex Ludvik, and Julia Ferrell, focused on the vital importance of academic honesty in the nursing profession. Facilitators included Lindsay Corbin, Libby McCully, Alexandra Younger, and Noor Hussain.
