The Right Reverend Doctor Laurent Mbanda, Bishop of the Shyira Diocese in Rwanda, spoke at an intimate luncheon at Samford University on November 8th, 2012. Speaking to an audience of 35 Samford students, faculty and staff, Mbanda addressed the need for strong church leadership in promoting social change.
A native of Rwanda who was forced to flee the country at an early age, Mbanda has devoted his life to service. He spent much of his career working for Compassion International, and still serves on its board of directors. He also serves on the boards of the International Justice Mission and the Kigali Institute of Education in Rwanda. He holds degrees from Kenya Highlands Bible College, Denver Seminary (M.A.), and Trinity International University (Ph.D.).
