The Mann Center's Better World Theatre initiative allows students to explore ethical issues in their field of study. The center is a resource for Samford faculty seeking to more effectively address questions of ethics, and ethical leadership, through teaching and scholarship in their own disciplines. Services range from identifying discipline-specific teaching materials to assisting with the design of new courses or course components. Faculty development workshops focus on teaching methods.
The center provides assessment services to the University Fellows honors program, using research methods to gauge the moral development and ethical competencies of Fellows and a control group of other Samford students. The aim of this project is to inform curricular and co-curricular strategies to develop moral sensitivity and judgment in undergraduate students. Assessment rubrics and instruments can be customized for any academic area.
Dr. Knapp contributes content to a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in business, education, nursing and other programs through lectures, simulations and decision exercises. His own courses include the MBA elective, “Managing Corporate Integrity,” as well as study-abroad courses in South Africa for undergraduates.
