The program objective is to improve the scientific basis for decison making for a sustainable environment and secure future.
The underlying focus of the program is to provide decision makers with the tools that are vital for improving the scientific and managerial basis for environmental decision making.
The Samford MSEM program, established and accredited over a decade ago, was designed to address the educational needs of attorneys, engineers, corporate managers, business, educational and health professionals, environmental safety and health personnel, aerospace professionals, small business owners, and others who already hold undergraduate and/or professional degrees.
Samford best serves the needs of working professionals and executives during times that are convenient to their schedules by offering evening and/or weekend classes. Each course meets one night per week for four hours. The Wetlands course is a field/lecture, course which meets on Saturday mornings. Specific course information for each term is provided through the office of the Department of Biology.
Courses are offered in five 9-week terms per year. Terms begin during the months of January, March, June, August, and October. Academic calendar:
If two courses are carried during each term, all course work for the degree can be completed in six 9-week periods, or approximately fifteen months. Graduation ceremonies are held in December and May.

The campus is designed with Georgian-Colonial architecture, large, grassy malls, and well-lighted, tree-lined paths, creating a serene and safe academic atmosphere. The primary classroom area for the Environmental Management program is in the new Sciencenter, located on the western edge of the campus.
