Samford Education School Honors Faculty, Staff, Alumna

Several faculty and staff members of Samford University’s Orlean Bullard Beeson School of Education and Professional Studies, along with an alumna, have been cited for outstanding performance.

Honorees at a recent ceremony were: education faculty members James B. Angel, Angela Ansah and Chris Gillespie; staff member Leslie Carlisle, and 2003 interior design graduate Anne-Marie Gianoudis.  Each received a framed certificate and a $500 cash prize.

Dr. Angel received the Outstanding Teaching Award for outstanding achievement, innovation and/or performance in graduate or undergraduate teaching at Samford. Angel is professor and associate dean in the exercise science and sports medicine department.

Dr. Ansah received the Outstanding Scholarship Award for outstanding achievement in research, publication and/or professional presentations.  Ansah is associate professor and assistant dean in the graduate studies department.

Gillespie received the Spiritual Impact Award for exhibiting a “servant’s heart” and the love of Jesus Christ in service to faculty, staff, students and the community.  Gillespie is assistant professor in the exercise science and sports medicine department.

Carlisle received the Outstanding Staff Award for outstanding performance and service in duties assigned, and for positive interaction with faculty, staff and students.  She is program assistant in the exercise science and sports medicine department.

Gianoudis received the Outstanding Alumni Award for outstanding accomplishments and/or service rendered to the school, the university and to the community.  A senior interior designer and associate at Gresham, Smith and Partners in Birmingham, she is accredited by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
