Samford's 2011 Homecoming Court

Samford University’s 2011 homecoming court members have been chosen by vote of their respective classes.  They will help the school celebrate a “Forever Red and Blue” themed homecoming this weekend, Oct. 28-29.

Court members are:  freshmen Madison Miles, a journalism and mass communication major from Duluth, Ga., and McDavid Maddox, an international relations major from Dothan, Ala.; sophomores Emily-Erin Robinson, a communication studies major from Roanoke, Va., and Mathes Ballard, a finance major from Lookout Mountain, Ga.; and juniors Lauren Barry, a psychology major from Dallas, Texas, and Cameron Collins, an economics major from Cornelius, N.C.

Senior representatives are Meredith Edney, an elementary education from Vicksburg, Miss.; Jordyn Elrod, an education major from Franklin, Tenn.; Elizabeth Gettys, an economics major from Alexander City, Ala.; Jeremy Towns, a sports medicine major from Dolomite, Ala.; Matt Wambles, a journalism and mass communication major from Dothan, Ala.; and John Woods, an economics major from Louisville, Ky.

The homecoming king and queen will be chosen from the senior class members of the court. The winners will be announced at halftime of the Samford football game against Western Carolina on Saturday. Kickoff is 2 p.m. in Seibert Stadium.

The court will also be introduced at a pep rally and bonfire at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, and participate in the on-campus parade at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Parade grand marshal will be former Samford music faculty member Dr. Bill Nugent, who wrote the Samford fight song.
