Posted on 2005-09-09 by Mary Wimberley (205) 726-2922

Nine undergraduate students, 11 law students and one divinity student started classes at Samford University this week after being displaced at their schools because of Hurricane Katrina.
The undergraduate students were previously enrolled at Dillard University, Southern University at New Orleans, University of New Orleans, William Carey College-New Orleans branch and Xavier University, all located in New Orleans, La.

Thursday, Sept. 8, was the last day for relocating students to enroll at Samford for the fall semester.

Samford's Cumberland School of Law received 11 students who were enrolled as second or third-year students at Loyola or Tulane law schools, both located in New Orleans.

One student who was studying at flood-damaged New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary has enrolled at Samford's Beeson Divinity School.
