Dr. David Potts, Judson President, To Speak at Fall Commencement

Dr. David Potts, president of Judson College in Marion, Ala., will speak during Samford University's Fall Commencement Saturday, Dec. 18. Some 280 graduates will receive degrees during 10 a.m. exercises in Wright Center Concert Hall.

Dr. Potts has been president of Judson since 1990. A Birmingham native, he holds the bachelor and master of science in education degrees from Samford and the Ph.D. from the University of Alabama. Judson, founded in 1838, is the nation's sixth oldest women's college.

A reception for seniors and their families will be held in the main dining room of Beeson University Center immediately following Commencement.

Also scheduled during the Fall Commencement period are:

  • Friday, Dec. 17--Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing Pinning Ceremony, 1:30 p.m., Hodges Chapel  
  • Saturday, Dec. 18--School of Business Hooding Ceremony, 8 a.m., Brock Forum; Graduating Senior Art Show Closing Reception, immediately following Commencement, Wright Center Art Gallery; Air Force ROTC Commissioning Ceremony, Hodges Chapel, 1 p.m.
