Samford University's Beeson Divinity School will sponsor a series of lectures on the topic, "In One Body Through the Cross: The Gospel Imperative for Christian Unity," Oct. 4-5.
The two-day event will feature speakers representing a variety of theological backgrounds. Registration is open to the public.
Richard J. Neuhaus, president of the Institute on Religion and Public Life, a nonpartisan interreligious research and education institute, will speak Monday (OCT. 4) at 7 p.m. in Andrew Gerow Hodges Chapel. His topic will be "The Quest for Full Visible Unity: The Role of the Roman Catholic Church."
Other speakers on Monday are: Carl E. Braaten, executive director, Center for Catholic and Evangelical Theology; R. R. Reno, theology professor, Creighton University; David S. Yeago, systematic theology professor, Lutheran Theological Seminary; and William D. Abraham, Wesleyan studies professor, Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University.
Tuesday's speakers include Richard J. Mouw, president, Fuller Theological Seminary; Timothy George, dean, Beeson Divinity School; and Laura Smit, dean of the chapel, Calvin College.
