Dr. Carrie R. Wickham, associate professor of political science at Emory University, will deliver the College Society Lecture at Samford University Thursday, April 29.
Her topic will be "Why the Hate?: The Causes of Anti-Americanism in the Arab World and the Ways to Address It." The 7 p.m. address in Reid Chapel will be open to the public.
Dr. Wickham, a Carnegie Scholar, is the author of Mobilizing Islam, published by Columbia University Press, and of many articles on Middle Eastern politics. Her academic specialty is politics of developing countries, with a regional focus on the Middle East.
Wickham holds the bachelor's degree from Harvard College and master's and Ph.D. degrees from Princeton University.
