U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Joel F. Dubina will serve as Judge in Residence at Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law Monday and Tuesday (FEB. 2 and 3).
Each year, a distinguished Cumberland graduate is invited to spend two days on campus speaking in classes related to his or her area of responsibility. The program allows students to augment the traditional curriculum by learning from experiences of alumni.
Judge Dubina, a 1973 Cumberland graduate, will lecture classes in constitutional law, appellate advocacy and civil procedure. He will also meet with students in formal and informal settings.
Dubina was appointed by President George H.W. Bush to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, Atlanta, Ga., in 1990. He was previously a U.S. District Judge and U.S. Magistrate, Middle District of Alabama, and an attorney in Montgomery.
