The College Democrats of Samford University will sponsor a debate between U.S. Senate candidates Julian L. McPhillips, Jr., and Dr. Susan D. Parker Thursday (March 14) at 7 p.m. in Brock Forum, Dwight Beeson Hall. The public is invited.
McPhillips is a partner in the Montgomery law firm of McPhillips, Shinbaum & Gill, LLP, with emphasis on public interest cases, personal injury and employment litigation.
Parker has served as state auditor since 1998. She was previously president of Parker Plus Consulting firm, and an administrator at Athens State College and Calhoun Community College.
Former Alabama Gov. Albert P. Brewer will serve as moderator of the town hall style debate. Each candidate will present remarks and take questions from the community and students.
The debate is co-sponsored by the Samford political science department and Slate-Kennedy law firm. Jamie Gibson, a junior political science major from Butler, is president of the Samford College Democrats.
