Georgia Governor Roy E. Barnes will deliver the Omicron Delta Kappa leadership address at Samford University Thursday, Oct. 5. The public is invited to the 10 a.m. lecture in Reid Chapel.
Gov. Barnes, an attorney and businessman who was elected governor in 1998, will share his views on leadership and his personal faith journey.
His political career began in 1974, when at age 26, he became the youngest legislator ever elected in Georgia. He later was appointed to chair the Senate Judiciary Committee. He also served in the House of Representatives. Gov. Barnes and his family attend First United Methodist Church, Marietta. His daughter, Alyssa, is an education major at Samford.
Gov. Barnes' visit to Samford is sponsored by the campus chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa leadership society, which will induct eight campus leaders into its membership during the program.
