A series of lectures addressing the “Big
Questions in Science and Religion “ will be presented by Samford
University faculty members this fall at Independent Presbyterian Church
(IPC). The first is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 15, at
6:15 p.m.
The weekly programs will be led by math and
computer science professor Dr. Steve Donaldson, biology professor Dr.
George Keller, philosophy professor Dr. Wilton Bunch, and business
professor Dr. Tom Woolley. All are Fellows in Samford’s
new Center for Science and Religion.
The 10-week series at IPC will be the first major
public outreach effort of the Center, which is designed to frame
teaching and research in the sciences and mathematics by the “big
questions” of meaning and value.
The Sept. 15 presentation, led by Dr. Keller,
will consider the relationship between science and religion. Other
lectures will address topics related to origins, free will, the soul,
what it will mean to be human, miracles, and the existence
of God. All are on Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m., and are free and open to
the public.
For information and a complete schedule of topics, email Dr. Donaldson at
