Concert pianist Kimball Gallagher will perform at Samford University Tuesday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. in Brock Recital Hall. The public is invited free of charge to the concert, presented as part of Samford School of Performing Arts guest artist series.

The program will include Haydn's "Sonata in A-flat," Chopin's "4 Mazurkas" (C Major, A-flat Major, B-flat Major and E Minor) and Sonata Op. 35 (Funeral March); Nolan Gasser's "3 Jazz Preludes," and Charles Griffes' "Sonata for Piano," as well as a new piece by David Del Tredici, "Ballade in Lavender."

Gallagher played the world premiere of the Del Tredici work at his New York City debut on March 10 in Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall.

In addition to performing at conventional concert hall venues, he has played many concerts in private homes in emulation of the salons of the romantic era. Gallagher founded the Piano Key project to create a salon concert culture by developing a nationwide organization of homes that will host concerts.

A graduate of Rice University and The Juilliard School, he resides in New York City, where he maintains a studio of private piano students.
