Samford University Theatre will present two plays based on Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh during February. Both will be staged in Samford's Harrison Theatre. Call 726-2853 afternoons for tickets.

"Vincent in Brixton" will run Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 9-11, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2:30 p.m. The play, by Nicholas Wright, traces van Gogh's early life in London as he works for an international firm of art dealers and is about to begin his painting career.

"Inventing Van Gogh" will run Thursday-Saturday Feb. 23-25 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 26, at 2:30 p.m. Written by Steve Dietz, the play deals with a contemporary painter who is hired to forge what will be passed off as van Gogh's final self portrait.
