Samford's Frank Minter to Lead National Group

Frank C. Minter, CPA, executive-in-residence at the Samford University School of Business, has been elected national president-elect of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). He will assume presidency of the 75,000-member organization in July, 2000.

Minter, editor of the Accounting and Auditing Handbook, is a former full-time faculty member and accounting director at Samford. He continues to teach a graduate financial accounting theory course.

He was previously employed by AT&T and the Bell System for 34 years until his retirement. He had served as corporate vice president and controller of AT&T and vice president and chief financial officer of two of its subsidiaries.

Minter is a member of the Financial Executives Institute, the American Accounting Association and the American Institute of CPAs. He is the IMA representative to the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council, and has also served IMA as a vice president and board member.

IMA is the world's largest organization dedicated to advancing management accounting and financial management.
