'MoneyTalks' Program Reset for March 11 at Samford

Posted by Mary Wimberley on 2000-02-17

MoneyTalks, a financial planning education program postponed because of icy January weather, has been re-scheduled for Saturday, March 11, at Samford University.

Free to the public, the program is sponsored by the Alabama chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning (IAFP), and the Samford School of Business. MoneyTalks will feature sessions helpful to people of different ages and stages of financial growth.

"The planners had looked forward to a great turnout on Jan. 29," said MoneyTalks co-chair Brandy Hydrick. "We hope anyone who had planned to attend will re-mark their calendars for March 11. The goal of MoneyTalks is still to help community members learn to make wise financial decisions."

Topics include electronic trading, early retirement options, charitable giving strategies, Roth IRA alternatives, elder care planning, family business succession planning, risk management and estate planning.

IAFP chapter members, as well as other professionals in the community who are specialists in different areas of financial planning, will lead sessions.

MoneyTalks sessions are an hour and 15 minutes in length, beginning at 9 a.m. The final session concludes at 3 p.m. Participants may attend as many or as few sessions as they like. Lunch will be available on campus. Registration check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the lobby of Dwight Beeson Hall. For more information, call (205) 879-5001.
