Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble To Perform March 12

The Samford University Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will present an evening of American-themed music Thursday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. in Brock Recital Hall. Samford director of bands Dr. James J. Smisek will conduct. The public is invited free of charge.

The 41-piece Symphonic Band will play Jim Curnow's Fanfare Prelude on "God of our Fathers" (the National Hymn), Percy Aldridge Grainger's "Harvest Hymn," David R. Holsinger's "At the Strongholds of En Gedi," and Edwin Franko Goldman's "The Chimes of Liberty."

The 39-member Wind Ensemble will play Henry Fillmore's "Americans We," John Zdechlik's "Chorale and Shaker Dance," Robert Russell Bennett's "Suite of Old American Dances," and Joseph Willcox Jenkins' "American Overture."

Harpist Kaitlyn Crocker will perform during intermission.
