Samford To Host Public Debate With Japanese National Team

Samford University will host a public debate between a Samford debate team and the Japanese National Debate Team Thursday, March 6, at 7 p.m. in Davis Library Room 235. The public is invited free of charge.

The debate topic is Resolved: that the death penalty should be banned.

Samford team members are Erin Ramsey, a junior political science and communication studies major; and Nick Agnello, a senior political science major. Both are highly-ranked debaters who have won many regional awards. Ramsey recently qualified to represent the southeast in the national debate tournament. Agnello was named southeast debater of the year.

Japanese team members are Akira Murakami, Graduate School of Foreign Policy, University of Tokyo; and Tomonori Tasaki, English major, University of Kitakyushu.

The event is presented as part of Samford's Franklin Polemic Society debate series.
