Samford Football Slated for National Television

Samford University's football Bulldogs will be featured on national television this Thursday (Nov. 8) when they host Ohio Valley Conference rival Tennessee State University at Seibert Stadium on the Samford campus.

Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. CST to accommodate the national broadcast on cable network ESPN-U.

In addition to being a key conference match-up, the game will be the final home contest of 2007 for the Bulldogs and will be senior night for the 13 seniors on this year's squad.

Samford students will be treated to a tailgate party at the stadium prior to the game in lieu of the regular Thursday night dinner in the university dining hall. Students are encouraged to wear red and bring signs supporting the Bulldogs.

Other tailgates and the Bulldog FunZone inside Seibert Stadium will open at 3:30 p.m. Qdoba Mexican Grill will be distributing free samples for fans before the game.

Halftime will feature the Samford Marching Band and TSU's "Aristocrat of Bands."

According to Ben Murchison, assistant director of marketing for athletics, "one lucky contestant" will have a chance to win a new Pontiac G5 by throwing a nerf football into the window of the car. Interested contestants should register at Samford's campus recreation office in Seibert Hall.

"It is exciting for Samford to be featured on national television, despite the early kickoff time," said Bob Roller, Samford's director of athletics. "This is a great opportunity for us to showcase the university and our athletics program to millions of viewers across the country."

This will be the Bulldogs' second national telecast this season. The Sept. 8 game at Georgia Tech also was televised by ESPN-U.
