Gordon Fort To Speak At Samford Oct. 2.

Posted by Mary Wimberley on 2007-09-26

Gordon Fort, vice president, overseas operations, International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, will speak at Samford University twice on Tuesday morning, Oct. 2. The public is invited to either event.

Fort will address undergraduate students at 10 a.m. in Reid Chapel as part of the regular convocation series.

He will speak in a service for Samford's Beeson Divinity School students at 11 a.m. in A. Gerow Hodges Chapel.

In keeping with the theme of international missions and Beeson's series on "Walking with the Saints," the 11 a.m. program will offer a brief tribute to Lottie Moon (1840-1912), legendary missionary to China.

Fort, a former regional leader for IMB work in the southern Africa region, was named to his present post in 2004. He and his wife, Leigh Ann, were missionaries to Botswana during 1985-97. He is the son of former Southern Baptist missionary physicians who served in Zimbabwe.
