Samford Business Professor Earns Certified Fraud Examiner Status
Samford University business professor Dr. Douglas L. Smith has been awarded Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
CFEs are knowledgeable in four areas critical to the fight against fraud: fraudulent financial transactions, criminology and ethics, legal elements of fraud, and fraud investigation.
The designation is given only to select professionals who meet a stringent set of criteria including character, experience and education.
Dr. Smith also holds credentials as a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Manager.
Smith joined the Samford School of Business faculty in 2000. He teaches in the areas of accounting, auditing and information technology.
