Art Gallery Reception, Artist's Talk Rescheduled for Feb. 22

Posted by Sean Flynt on 2011-02-07

The reception and artist's talk featuring Mary Ann Sampson has been rescheduled for 5-7 p.m. Feb. 22 in Samford Art Gallery. The original schedule was disrupted by inclement weather.

The Visiting Visual Artist Series exhibit featuring Sampson's work continues through Feb. 23. "Mary Ann Sampson Bookmaking and Printmaking" showcases the vibrant printed work that often reflects the artist's Ragland, Alabama home.

Sampson received a master's degree in book arts from the University of Alabama and now operates OEOCO Press (One Eye Opera Company) with the mission of bookbinding and making limited edition letterpress and one-of-a-kind books. Her work, which focuses on miniatures and broadsides and generally explores the book as a means of visual expression, has been shown extensively in the United States and abroad.

The exhibit will include a free public reception and artist's talk 5-7 p.m. Feb. 22.

Samford Art Gallery is open 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
