"Once I was accepted into the program and began taking classes, it was apparent that the expectations ARE high, but the faculty and staff are always there to help you reach that level of expectation."

"Instructors understand that a lot of graduate students work full-time and are trying to raise a family and they truly listen to and work with personal hardships and suggestions related to the merging of the two schedules."

- John Lundeen,

Current student in the Masters program, Educator track
"After completing the program, I was prepared to enter the workforce as a knowledgeable and caring nurse."

I will always cherish the values that were instilled upon me during nursing school. The spiritual support and guidance helped me to grow and use all of the gifts that God has given to me."

- Ashley Turner

Graduate, now working as an RN
Nursing is not only a significant career change for me - it is also a long-time dream. I chose Samford because of its excellent academic reputation and holistic approach to nursing care.

"This has been the perfect place for me.  The faculty is knowledgeable and accessible and allow students to engage them in meaningful conversations about school, life, and current issues."

"Not only have I had excellent clinical and classroom experiences, but I have been afforded the opportunity to creativity apply what I have learned to the needs of the patient at the bedside and to the global community."

- John Derrick currently enrolled in

Second Degree BSN program

"The small class size has helped me establish deeper relationships with my fellow nursing students and has been vital to my success in the clinical area. Also, Birmingham is the best place in Alabama to get experience because of the wide variety of hospitals and clinics."

- Jessica Johnson

current undergraduate student
"The biggest impact my education provided me was the ability to think about the entire Circle of Care (spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental) for a patient while at the same time delivering professional and exceptional care."

"I believe that the type of nurse that Samford graduates is not found just anywhere. The mission this school implants in their graduates leaves a lasting impact on them as individuals and the patients they care for."

- Melanie Henningson

Graduate, now working and one of our part-time clinical instructors
"Reflecting on the classroom experience with Mrs. Ida V. Moffett causes one to 'sit up straight' even now. She epitomized what any nursing student wanted to be, and her lectures in the 'Professional Adjustments' class enlightened all students to the necessity of incorporating the three 'C's' –Courage, Compassion, and Caring-- into all nursing skills. Notes were taken as expected, and the emphasis on professionalism was manifested in the front of the classroom by the instructor herself. Mrs. Moffett enjoyed the classroom agenda, and those of us privileged to say we were there have continued to use her instructions as our broad base of support for our nursing concerns."

"Personally, I treasure her words written to me: 'Dusty, always do a good job.' I would like to think she was pleased that I was prepared to do whatever was required of a 'Baptist Nurse.' "

- Gail Garrett

Alumnae
"The greatest advantage at Samford is the people. Our professors are concerned about each student as an individual. I am so thankful for our small class size. Having a smaller class has facilitated us becoming a very close-knit group. I cannot imagine taking this journey anywhere other than Samford."
