Mission

To develop a closer relationship between Samford University and the parents of the University's students.
To assist in bringing facts about the institution to a wider constituency of prospective students and friends.
To engage in meaningful dialogue with Samford administration and faculty on critical issues related to students and parents.
To encourage financial participation and development of relationships among the parents of Samford students.

How Can I Help?

Here are some of the ways you can be involved:

Prayer – Pray regularly for Samford, students, faculty, staff and trustees. Receive special prayer alerts via electronic mail. Organize a Samford prayer group in your area that meets occasionally to pray specifically for Samford.

Networking – Serve as an information resource for parents of prospective students and Samford alumni who live in your area or might be new to your area. Identify and cultivate prospective students for Samford. Also consider using Samford students as business interns

Send-off Parties – Help to organize summer send-off parties in your area for new Samford students and their parents.

Samford Clubs – Participate in Samford Club activities with other parents and alumni in your area. If there is not an existing Samford Club in your area, consider helping to organize one.

Family Weekend / Annual Meeting /Special Events – Participate in annual Family Weekend activities each fall on the campus. Attend the Samford Parents Association annual meeting, held in conjunction with Family Weekend, to hear campus updates and to conduct the business of the Association. Attend other special events on campus – performing arts, athletics, Step Sing, Homecoming and other opportunities.

Leadership – Volunteer as a leader on the national or local/regional level to provide general guidance to Association activities and programs.

Giving to Samford – Samford’s strong financial foundation has been made possible by those in previous generations who gave sacrificially to support the University. Parents are encouraged to be involved by supporting the student-led Phonathon and other annual giving opportunities.

Ideas – The possibilities are limitless. Got an idea? Share it with other parents and help it become reality!
