Parents Leadership Council

The Samford Parents Leadership Council [PLC] is a group organized to serve as a voice and a ear for all Samford parents. Many times throughout the year, all parents are invited to join the Parents Association. The PLC is a group of parents from the Parents Association that meets twice a year, during Family Weekend and Step Sing weekend. During the year, phone calls and e-mails help the PLC organize specific efforts and programs.

Objectives of the PLC

Provide networking opportunities for parents and students

We know that our alumni and parents can be a great source of future opportunities for students. Through programs of specific schools, we hope parents, students and alumni will have the opportunity to help one another.

Assist with internships and career opportunities

Once you know who the parents, students and alumni are, we hope you will assist with placing Samford people in internships and careers in your area. We are all stronger when we work together. The Samford Career Development Center can be a resource for announcing such opportunities. Please contact them here: www.samford.edu/groups/cardev/

Recruit future students

We hope that you will help us identify students who will choose Samford. The office of admission (www.samford.edu/admission.html ) is active all around the country. We can always use your referrals!

Support Samford financially

We all want Samford to have a strong future. Parents, students and alumni from years past have made generous contributions to bring us to this point. We need your support to move forward. Gifts to support Samford are tax deductible and make it possible for specific schools or departments to strengthen current programs and develop new ones. You can make a gift to a specific department where you or your student may have interest.

We are fortunate to have leadership form these great Samford families:

Julie and Eric Stroom, chairs of the PLC
The Strooms live in Gainesville, Ga., north of Atlanta. Their daughter Erica is a junior in the School of Pharmacy. They can be reached by e-mail: (plc@samford.edu )

In the coming days we will update this page with contact information for other parents who provide leadership and participate with the PLC.
