Kim Benner is a professor at Samford University's McWhorter School of Pharmacy and a pediatric clinical specialist at Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham.  Benner graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy from Samford University and completed an ASHP-accredited residency at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.  She has practiced at Children’s of Alabama in the pediatric ICU, general pediatrics and pulmonary for 20+ years.

Research interests and areas of publication include pediatrics, infectious diseases, pharmacy and simulation education. She speaks frequently at regional and national conferences and has had multiple poster presentations. Benner is active and holds many leadership roles in several professional organizations including the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP), Alabama Pharmacy Association, Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group. She served on the inaugural Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties in Pediatrics from 2013-16 and was elected to the ASHP Board of Directors for a 2021-2024 term
