Fall Commencement, December 2003

Commencement is one of the high moments for an academic institution, as students complete their studies and venture forth to be leaders in their professions and communities.

Samford University celebrated another high moment December 13 as Samford president Thomas E. Corts and provost J. Bradley Creed conferred about 240 undergraduate and graduate degrees. The weekend was a time for celebration that included pinning ceremonies for nursing graduates, hooding ceremonies for professional program graduates and a reception for families and friends of graduates, in addition to the traditional commencement exercises in the Leslie S. Wright Center on the Samford campus.

Paul R. Corts, assistant U.S. attorney general, was commencement speaker. Prayers were offered by Stephen Ruble, associate professor, Orlean Bullard Beeson School of Education and Professional Studies, and Killian Manning, professor, Howard College of Arts and Sciences.
