Presentation of the Marla Haas Corts Missionary Biography Collection

Samford University president Thomas E. Corts spoke during the presentation of the Marla Haas Corts Missionary Biography Collection. He gave the 1,000-title collection in honor of his wife and in appreciation of her service to Samford. Thurston Moore, president, Tennessee Players, Incorporated, spoke of the heritage of Albert Schweitzer and Johann Sebastian Bach. A painting of the two men was done by Nashville, Tenn., artist Connie Erickson as part of a project created by Moore. The painting, Moore noted, had been hanging in his home until it was acquired recently for the Samford library.
Many guests, including members of the Samford Board of Trustees and spouses, gathered in the Hudnall Library of the Harwell Goodwin Davis Library for presentation of the Marla Haas Corts Missionary Biography Collection and dedication of the Albert Schweitzer-Johann Sebastian Bach painting. Samford president Thomas E. and Marla Corts examine one of the 1,000 titles included in the missionary biography collection. Mrs. Corts has been keenly interested in missionary stories since her teenage years.
