| Procession – More than 450 participated in the inauguration procession, including faculty, staff, program personnel and delegates from about 85 institutions and other organizations. Music from the Rushton Memorial Carrillion accompanied the procession. |
Flags – Students carried flags of the 117 states and countries where Samford students and/or alumni live as part of the inauguration procession. The flags lined Centennial Walk. |

| Macebearer – Retired faculty member W. Mike Howell was selected to carry the university mace for the Nov. 2 investiture ceremony. Howell was a faculty representative on the presidential search committee that recommended new Samford president Andy Westmoreland. |
Color – The fall foliage on Shades Mountain provided a dramatic and colorful backdrop for the colorful pageantry of the inauguration procession from Harwell G. Davis Library through Centennial Walk to the Wright Center. |

Icy welcome – A beautiful ice sculpture created by Campus Dining, Inc., graced the buffet tables for the inauguration breakfast. |

| Greetings –Andrew Westmoreland received hundreds of official greetings and congratulations from other institutions and organizations in celebration of his inauguration as Samford’s 18th president. The greetings were displayed for inauguration guests. |
