Our Story

Sometimes the Samford story is told in awards won atacademic competitions, or victories on athletic fields, or accomplishments ofour faculty, or the triumphs of our alumni . . . and sometimes the story istold in one simple act, as related to me last week by one of our students,Rebecca Glenn:

“Tuesday night I was up in thecomputer lab in the education building working on a group project.  Iaccidentally left my flash drive in the computer.  I didn't realize ituntil the next day, so Wednesday afternoon I went back up there to get it, andit was gone.  Needless to say, I panicked!  My entire college careeris on this flash drive.  I immediately began asking faculty members ifanyone had turned it in.  Unfortunately no one had, but everyone was veryconcerned.  Dr. Haralson went with me to ask a couple of other facultymembers about it, as well as suggesting other places I could look, such as theHUB and public safety.  When I went downstairs and asked Leslie Mann, thegraduate secretary, she immediately began making a flyer to hang up around thebuilding, as well as emailing other faculty members in the building to ask ifany of them had found it or had it turned in to them.  By the time I gotback from the HUB she already had the flyer printed and hung up around the building. Fortunately, my flash drive was found by a faculty member who returned it to methe following day.  However, the concern of the staff and their immediateresponse of help deeply touched me.  It just goes to show how much thefaculty and staff at Samford care about their students.”

The world is better because Samford people take the extratime to offer help to a neighbor.
