As you welcome my family to Samford, it is a pleasure for me to welcome you to this presidential transition website.
Jeanna, Riley, and I are grateful beyond words for your kindness to us as we prepare to move to Birmingham. For three decades, Jeanna and I have been associated with Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas, so--right now--we’re engaged in the process of saying goodbye to longtime friends and placing treasured items into boxes for our relocation to a new city and a new life. As a 16-year-old, Riley is discovering that a move just prior to the beginning of her junior year in high school is, after all, within the realm of the possible. Thanks to all of the members of the Samford community for your acceptance of our family, and thanks--in particular--to Dr. and Mrs. Tom Corts for their gracious efforts to make this a smooth transition.
I won’t begin my new responsibilities until June 1, but I hope to be on campus several times this spring. Perhaps our paths will cross. If so, please look me in the eye, shake my hand, tell me your name, and then let me know of your hopes for Samford. If you want to provide feedback to me through this site, click on the “I want to hear from you” link. All comments are anonymous, unless you wish to post your name.
The staff at Samford will be updating this site from time to time with transition news, so don’t be shy about paying an occasional visit.
As always, please keep Samford in your prayers.
Andrew Westmoreland
