Projects: North Campus Parking Deck
Updated: January 17, 2007

Construction has begun on a much needed 600 space parking deck near Smith and Vail Halls. Featuring a "figure eight" design, the deck will have a central entry point from Montague Drive and internal circulation to all four levels.
The preciously existing "Pit parking lot" was chosen to be the site for this addition. Planners considered the natural topography of the area an asset in the design. By establishing the lowest level at the existing parking elevation, the remaining three levels rise with the existing ground elevations to slightly above street level.
Precast concrete "double T's" will allow for timely construction to accommodate university schedules. Also, precast spandrel panels with brick inserts will provide appropriate screening and an attractive appearance to surrounding areas. The deck will contain two stair towers and a central elevator. It is also designed for a future Phase II expansion to the west, thus providing an approximate equivalent capacity to current construction.
Contractor Gary C. Wyatt has recently completed other projects on campus and is committed to have the deck available for use by fall term of 2007.
