Department of Theatre Offers Youth Summer Camps

Theatre for Young Audiences PosterSamford's Department of Theatre will offer age-appropriate summer day camps for K-12 students during June.

For K-4 through Grade 6
Once Upon a Time, a camp for students in K-4 through grade 6, will be held June 4-8. Campers will bring a story to life on stage as they explore fairy tales, in which good always triumphs over evil. They will experience all aspects of theatre production, including script writing, costuming, set design and performance.

Students in K-4 and K-5 will meet 9 a.m.-12 noon. Registration is $90. Students in grades 1-6 will meet 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Registration is $185.

For Grades 7-12
Theatre Arts Intensive, a camp for grades 7-12, will be held June 11-15, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Participants will delve into the conceptual meaning of stories in young adult literature and produce a play. Class topics include acting styles, stage combat and theatre history. Registration is $195.

All campers will receive a camp tee shirt, stage make-up, snacks and bottled water.
