Samford University has a full schedule of events planned in Atlanta, Ga., around the Samford football game with Georgia Tech on Sept. 8.
The football game is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. EDT kickoff at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium. Ticket information is available at SamfordSports.com.
A pre-game pep rally is scheduled for noon at the North Street entrance to the stadium and will feature the Samford cheerleaders, band and Spike the bulldog mascot. The pep rally is sponsored by the Samford Alumni Association.
Earlier that week, the Samford Business Network is hosting its quarterly Atlanta gathering at the Coca-Cola world headquarters. The 12 p.m. luncheon on Friday, Sept. 7 will feature Mary Page Platerink, director of strategy, global and customer and commercial leadership for The Coca-Cola Company.
The luncheon is free, but advance reservations are required. Go to the Samford Business Network website for more information.
Prospective Samford students and their families are invited to a preview party at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6 at The Varsity near the Georgia Tech campus. Local high school counselors also are invited. University representatives will available to answer questions.
“The preview event is a great way for students from in and around the Atlanta area to become more familiar with Samford but to also meet fellow students from their area that are also interested in Samford,” said Laura Beth Trucks, Samford admission counselor.

Samford’s Greek life community is hosting a series of student-oriented events in Atlanta, including a band party at The Biltmore on Friday, Sept. 8. Information about Greek weekend is available at www.samford.edu/greeklife.
A group of Samford employees, students and alumni will participate in a bike ride on the Silver Comet Trail in advance of the football game. The group will leave Rockmart, Ga., on Friday, Sept. 7 and pedal about 40 miles to Smyrna. They will stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Vinings, about one mile from trail’s end, and take public transportation to the game on Saturday.
