Leading American Poet To Read Work Monday

Kevin Young is widely regarded as one of the leading poets of his generationKevin Young–widely regarded as one of the leading poets of his generation– will present his poetry at Samford on Monday, Nov. 5 at 7:00 p.m. in Divinity North Room 302. This second event in the year's Samford Visiting Writers Series is free of charge and open to the public.

Young is Atticus Haygood Professor of English and Creative Writing at Emory University and Curator of Emory's Raymond Danowski Poetry Library. He has published five poetry collections, including Most Way Home, winner of the 1993 National Poetry Series, and, most recently, For the Confederate Dead. Young’s poetry and essays have appeared in the New Yorker, New York Times Book Review, Paris Review, Kenyon Review, and Callaloo. For the Confederate Dead has been featured on National Public Radio and News Hour with Jim Lehrer.
