Samford University fans have a special treat Tuesday, April 4, when the Bulldogs baseball team hosts Auburn University in a 7 p.m. game at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Birmingham.

Tickets for the inaugural Samford-Auburn Baseball Classic are $8 for adults and $5 for children. Samford students will be admitted free with a valid student identification card.

Tickets can be purchased at the Samford ticket office or at any First American Bank branch in Alabama. First American Bank is the corporate sponsor for the baseball classic. All other fans will be required to purchase tickets, according to Jay Roberson, Samford's associate athletics director. Tickets will be available at the Hoover Met ticket office the week of the game.

Several special activities are planned for the game, including a gathering for Samford Young Alumni on the patio. Former Samford baseball players also will be recognized during the game.

The game is the renewal of an annual rivalry, although this is the first time for the game to be played at the Hoover Met, home of the Birmingham Barons professional baseball team. The teams split two games in 2005. Samford head coach Casey Dunn, a product of Vestavia Hills High School in Birmingham, played collegiate baseball at Auburn.
