The Belltower Moves to Biweekly Schedule

"When we launched The Belltower I wasn't sure we'd always have enough material to fill a monthly publication, but we've never had that problem," Flynt said. "In fact, the new, biweekly schedule addresses the happy problem of having too much material for a monthly newsletter."

belltowerAfter two years of publication as a monthly electronic newsletter, The Belltower will become a biweekly publication starting in September. According to Belltower editor Sean Flynt, the change acknowledges both the overwhelmingly positive response to the online publication and the increasing volume of Samford articles, events and announcements. "When we launched The Belltower I wasn't sure we'd always have enough material to fill a monthly publication, but we've never had that problem," Flynt said. "In fact, the new, biweekly schedule addresses the happy problem of having too much material for a monthly newsletter."

Flynt said he expects the new schedule to allow greater emphasis on time-sensitive news items. "With a monthly," he said, "you have to leave lots of interesting but last-minute event announcements on the shelf because the events will have passed by the time you publish. Having a two-week production cycle will eliminate at least part of that problem and help readers get a sense of the different ways they can stay involved with Samford."

For now, The Belltower's design and format will not change significantly, but Flynt said the publication may be due for a redesign later this year.
