The Place To Go for Homecoming October 18–20

Reunions, barbecue, football and fun for all ages will fill the agenda for Homecoming this fall at Destination: Samford.

That will be the theme October 18–20 as alumni, students, and their families and friends converge on the campus for the annual fall celebration.

The Class of 1952 will hold a special Golden Reunion Dinner in the Rotunda Club, and classes ending in two and seven will hold gatherings and share the spotlight throughout the weekend.

McWhorter School of Pharmacy will celebrate its 75th anniversary, capped by a Saturday night dinner at The Club on Red Mountain in Birmingham.

Music majors will also hold a reunion and join the A Cappella Choir to present a Showcase Recital Saturday morning.

Samford will host Alcorn State in the Homecoming football game Saturday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. in Seibert Stadium. Alumni of the Year and the Homecoming Court will be introduced at the game.

Other highlights are a rock concert in Wright Center Friday night, Oct. 18, and the annual pregame barbecue in Beeson University Center Saturday. The Challenge of the Classes Award for the greatest class participation in giving to Samford and the Odyssey Award to the alumnus traveling the longest distance to Homecoming will be presented at the barbecue.

The Half-Century Brunch is scheduled at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in the Flag Colonnade of Beeson University Center. Alumni from the Class of ’52 and earlier are invited. The Lockmiller Award will be presented to representatives of the earliest classes in attendance.

The 10 a.m. hour Saturday will have something for everyone—a hot-air balloon ride in Sherman Circle, Live at the Library lecture, the Bulldog FunZone children’s carnival at the tennis courts and Sciencenter open house, complete with planetarium show and hands-on demonstrations.

Southern writer Terry Kay will speak at Live at the Library.

A number of organizations and departments will hold open houses and reunions after the game Saturday. Check with your organization for details.

The annual worship service will be Sunday, Oct. 20, at 9:30 a.m. in Beeson Divinity Chapel.
