Samford Honors Alabama Ministers

Samford recognized outstanding Alabama Baptist ministers during the Alabama Baptist State Convention meeting Nov. 14.

Samford President Thomas E. Corts presented awards during a Samford Alumni Association breakfast to:

  • James Sampley '75, First Baptist Church, Ashville (for churches with Sunday School enrollment of 1­299)
  • David Tew '76, First Baptist Church, Madison (300­999 in Sunday School)
  • Morgan Bailey, Santuck Baptist Church, Wetumpka (1,000 or more in Sunday School)
  • Mike Clark, Mable Hill Baptist Church, Ardmore (for Bi-vocational Ministers)
  • George Riddle '42, (for the Retired category). He held longtime pastorates at First Baptist Church, Arab, and Dwight Baptist, Gadsden.
  • John Long '73, director of missions, Madison Association, (for Metropolitan Association)
  • Paul Kendrick '60, director of missions, Washington Association (Town and Country Association)
