  • The Pastor as Shepherd:  an innovative program that provides an opportunity for clergy to refresh and develop their basic pastoral skills with the goal of functioning better in the shepherding of congregations.  For more information on dates and times of this program click here.

 

  • Michael Gorman Lectures:  The RCPE is partnering with the Diocese of Catholics in Birmingham to present a continuing education workshop at Samford on February 6, 2009.  Dr. Michael Gorman, Professor of Sacred Scripture and Dean of the Ecumenical Institute of Theology at St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore will be the keynote lecturer for the event.  Catholics are observing "The Year of St. Paul" and Dr. Gorman's presentations will draw from his area of expertise, the Pauline Epistles.  Lectures for Catholic clergy and other interested ministers and students will be offered in Brock Forum beginning at 9:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  An evening session, open to the public, will be offered in Hodges Chapel beginning at 7:00 p.m.  The theme of the evening presentation is "Paul in One Sentence."   Call the RCPE at (205) 726-4064 for registration information.

 

  • State Evangelism Conference
    February 23 - 24, 2009

  • Southern Baptist Bi-vocational Ministers Association Annual Celebration
    The annual celebration for bi-vocational ministers will be April 16-18, 2009 here at Samford University.  Junior Hill will be the Keynote speaker.  Other speakers include Dr. Lloyd Elder, Phil Winningham, Dr. Dale Huff, and Dr. Marc Merritt.  Entertainment will be provided by Shades Mountain Air.  Shades Mountain Air performs an acoustic music style that's soothing but powerful with shades of bluegrass, folk, and old-time gospel.
