Dr. Epley was born in Chattanooga, TN. He attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in 1978. For 7 years, Dr. Epley worked as a newspaper reporter. After working with the paper, he went back to school. In 1992, Dr. Epley graduated from Columbia University with his Ph.D. in English.

Classes
Currently, Dr. Epley is a professor at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. He regularly teaches Cultural Perspectives 101 and 102. During the fall, he teaches English 301 ( Survey of British Literature) and during the spring he teaches 18th Century Literature or Middle Ages Literature.

Research Project
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Epley's interest in Early American Novelists has lead him to work on a book focusing on one such author, Susannah Rowson.
