Major in Bachelor of Arts in History
The Bachelor of Arts in History is one of the broadest and most useful majors in the liberal arts. At Samford, the major involves a mix of foundation courses, specialized upper-division classes, and seminars for a total of 44 credits. Independent study and internships are also possible. Many students combine the BA in History with teacher certification at the secondary school level. Requirements are slightly different. Click here.

Minor in History:
Students in any school may, with permission of their advisors, choose to minor in history. The minor requires 24 hours. For more information click here.

Concentration in International Relations
The Concentration in International Relations is an interdisciplinary degree involving foreign languages, history, and political science. International Relations not only gives a student entre to a variety of graduate programs (e.g., history, political science, international studies), it provides valuable preparation for students interested in any area of foreign service or the mission field. IREL leads to the Bachelor of Arts degree and requires 60 credits. With careful planning a student can add extra hours in one or more of the featured fields and obtain a major in that area. Bachelor of Science in Education, Social Studies
The School of Education offers a BS degree with a teaching certificate in Social Sciences. History is an integral part of this program.
