Samford’s Journalism is equipped with its own computer lab complete with 17 G4 EMac Macintosh iMac computers. The computer lab along with JMC offices and classrooms are located in the University Center Annex.

The Digital Video Center (DVC) is another very valuable learning source also located n the Journalism building where students have access to 16 complete camcorder packages. In addition, the DVC has 15 still cameras, 10 mini disc recorders, and 14 professional model video camcorders for student use.

The Journalism students also have access to Samford’s radio station, news broadcasting room and The Crimson Newspaper offices.

A student broadcasting team produces news shows in the OBB broadcast studio every week using a virtual set. The broadcasting studio has its own editing room with six computers used to edit and produce the final product for the Samford TV channel. The studio has its own voiceover room for students to do audio work, as well.

Samford also has its own radio station called WVSU 91.1 Smooth Jazz. Student DJ’s host shows on the radio station every day, periodically giving updates on both local and national news and sports. The radio station broadcasts in the Birmingham area, and serves as a tool for students to get hands-on career experience.
