Course 5:
Advanced Library Research: Law Libraries and Government Documents
This course emphasizes advanced research methods for genealogists in law libraries and government documents.
Faculty:
Textbook (Suggested but not Required): Benjamin B. Spratling, III, "Court and Legal Records,"
in Printed Sources A Guide to Published Genealogical Records, Kory L. Meyerink editor
(Salt Lake City: Ancestry, 1998), 437-466.
The September 2007 issue of the National Genealogical Society Quarterly is also recommended as it deals with law issues.
Requisites: Any one of the following: completion of course 4,
Advance Methodology and Evidence Analysis; or certification from BCG; or accreditation from ICAPgen; or current or past
experience as a Librarian; or other significant experience doing research in a library. If you do not meet one of the
