Course Overview:The course will enable students to productively use genealogical software and electronic archives on the Internet. Students will use the Internet and one popular product such as The Master Genealogist (TMG) to learn electronic research and data management techniques. Students will learn standards and guidelines for entering, maintaining, and reporting genealogical information. The instruction will include lectures, tutorials, student case studies, and free time for electronic archive research. Tutorials will include an instructional "walk through" of software features by the instructor with student hands-on participation at their workstation. Lab sessions will include individual work on student projects using a sample database.
