Technology Services is pleased to announce the release of a new service, Remote Access, to enable anytime/anywhere access to employee files and University-licensed software. For employees this service includes three products / services:
1. Netfiles: Enables anytime/anywhere access to Z, W and other file shares for users on MAC, PC, smartphone, and tablet devices. The Z drive is available on every Samford computer and enables you to store important files on the central Samford storage system. All files are backed-up and secured. All staff and faculty are configured with a default 2GB quota but Technology Services can increase the quota should you need additional space. Saving to the Z or W drive is recommended over saving only on a desktop or laptop as locally saved files are not backed-up and may be unrecoverable if your computer experiences a major issue.
2. Citrix: Enables anytime / anywhere access to applications including Microsoft Office, Banner, Argos, and several lab products on PC, MAC, smartphone, and tablet devices.
3.VPN: Available for users who need specialized access to the Samford network that is not available through Netfiles or Citrix. VPN is only set up on Samford-owned devices.
