Adventures in Music is open to students who are interested in continuing their studies in piano and voice. It features two sessions for grades 1–12. Each session meets daily from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
All Adventures in Music students and faculty eat lunch together. Time for swimming in the campus pool is also included. Participants will be directed by faculty members and university student assistants for class changes, practice times, breaks, and meals.
Participants will have their own schedule, including four private 30-minute lessons, music literature, ensemble, theory, practice time, break, lunch, guest artist, and swimming.
Friday is filled with excitement and musical activity! The day challenges campers to test their knowledge with various team and individual games and relays. There is a solo recital for students who have a polished, memorized solo piece prepared. At 6:30 p.m. the Adventures in Music Gala Recital highlights students from the camp as they play the ensemble pieces learned throughout the week. Two of the games played on Friday are a Scavenger Hunt that takes place across the entire campus, and Who Wants to be a Music Millionaire game testing students on knowledge gained throughout the week.
Pianists must have completed a minimum of three months instruction prior to camp and will attend ensemble classes. Vocalists must be at least 10 years old and will attend ensemble and stage technique classes. Enrollment is limited to the first registration deposits received. Students are accepted until both sessions are filled.
